Could the bus be for you? With new routes and more frequent services, it’s easier than you think.

I Love Public Transport Whanganui are a community group encouraging better public transport in our city.

On April 17, World Public Transport Day, Whanganui Gets a new, improved bus network, which includes

  • More frequent services to all areas

  • Two Tide routes running every 20 minutes - meaning Aramoho, Castlecliff, Gonville and Whanganui East and Springvale/Tawhero all have frequent service.

  • Hourly service to St Johns, Whanganui East via Ikitara Road, and Springvale East, and new service to Putiki.

  • Extended service hours, seven days a week

  • More options for school students - with frequent service past or

  • Free buses for the first month!

How can you use the new network?

  • Use the Transit app [Transit Logo]

    • The easiest way to work out how to get where you need to go.

    • If you press ‘GO’ you’ll be helping other users see where the bus is.

  • Get a Bee Card [Bee Card Image]

    • You can buy one and top up by paying cash to the driver.

    • Even better - register online.

    • Did you know that with fare capping, you can get unlimited travel in Whanganui for a week for $18?
